Janusz Skowron was born in Kraków, Poland. After receiving his Master’s from the Academy of Music in Kraków, he went to Post Graduate studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Vienna, Austria. He participated in major international competitions including the Tchaikovsky Piano Competition in Moscow and the Beethoven Piano Competition in Vienna, and has been a winner at the National Chopin Society Scholarship Competition in Warsaw, Poland. He has performed extensively in concert halls throughout Europe, South America, and North America, including Carnegie Hall, Chicago Cultural Centre, Kilbourn Hall at the Eastman School of Music, Rochester, NY, International Music Festival Pitarsaari, Finland, Mit–Ost Festival in Pesc, Hungary among others. Mr. Skowron conducted many piano master-classes and music workshops (Canada, Finland, Malta, Brazil, Poland) and is frequently invited as a member of the jury in piano competitions. Mr. Skowron is currently Professor of Piano at the Academy of Music in Kraków and at the University of Rzeszow, Poland, after having taught at the University of Western Ontario, London, Algoma University, Canada (where he was appointed Artist–in-Residence), and the Musik Koservatoria in Jakobstad, Finland.
