Rebecca T. Alpert, Professor of Religion at Temple University will joing SBAI for a lunchtime talk,The Life of the Scholar-Activist: How to Combine your Politics and Research in an Academic Environment, on Friday, April 24 at 12:00pm in the Gamble Room in Rush Rhees Library. 

The event is free and open to the public and lunch will be provided. Registration is required as there is limited space. Please RSVP to sbai@rochester.edu by Wednesday, April 22.

A little about Rebecca T. Alpert and her work: 

Alpert was among the first women in America ordained as a rabbi, at the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College in 1976. She is the co-author of Exploring Judaism: A Reconstructionist Approach, co-editor of Lesbian Rabbis: The First Generation, author of Like Bread on the Seder Plate: Jewish Lesbians and the Transformation of Tradition, Whose Torah? A Concise Guide to Progressive Judaismand Out of Left Field: Jews and Black Baseball. At Temple University she teaches undergraduates about contemporary religion with a focus on Philadelphia, sexuality, sport, and race. She teaches graduate courses on religion and public life, sexuality, and higher education teaching.
