Department of English

The English department has a number of clusters that may be used to fulfill the new University of Rochester requirements for a balanced program of study. Don't be alarmed by the cancellation of certain clusters; the department has been reorganizing its cluster offerings, and most of the classes included in canceled clusters have been incorporated in others. "African American Studies" has merged, for example, with American studies to form a new cluster. Click on the Department Cluster Directory to see listings and descriptions. The Cluster Homepage will give you information about all the clusters at the University. If you have any questions, or if you need to finish a cluster that has been canceled, do not hesitate to contact the Director of Undergraduate Studies. Students can also petition to have a particular course count in a cluster, with the consent of the instructor and the Director of Undergraduate Studies.
