Week 1
This week we explore the causes (and solutions) for difficult to understand, heavily-accented speech. We will also begin to look at pragmatics, that is, how context and culture contribute to the meanings of speech.
Due Dates of Assignments/Readings:
September 10, 2012 - First class - no assignment due.
September 12, 2012 - Come prepared to present Homework One and please have read Sarkisian, pp. 24-29 (before the beginning of class).
