Dear Graduates,

Congratulations! As you stand at the threshold of this significant academic milestone, I could not be prouder of each and every one of you. Your dedication, perseverance, and hard work have brought you to this moment, and I am honored to have witnessed your journey through your participation in one or more of our Kearns Center pre-college programs: TRIO Upward Bound (UB), TRIO Upward Bound Math Science (UBMS), and TRIO Educational Talent Search (ETS).

Graduating from high school is a remarkable achievement, and you should take immense pride in how far you've come. As you transition to the next exciting phase of your life, whether that be higher education, vocational school, joining the workforce, the military, or another path, you will encounter new challenges and adjustments. Remember that change is a natural part of growth. Embrace these changes with the same courage and determination that have carried you through your high school years.

Throughout your time in our programs, you have gained not only academic knowledge through activities like college trips and cultural events, but also invaluable life skills such as, effective time management and study strategies, financial literacy, and communication and leadership skills. You have learned to think critically, solve problems, and persevere in the face of adversity. These lessons will serve as your foundation as you navigate life. Whenever you face obstacles, remember the resilience you’ve built and the support systems you’ve created. Lean on the strategies you've learned, the mentors you've met, and the friendships you've forged. Most importantly, always remember that you have a community that believes in you and is rooting for your success. We are here to support you, cheer you on, and celebrate your achievements, no matter where life takes you. You are never alone; the connections you have made here will remain a source of strength and encouragement.

As you look ahead to the summer, consider how you can best use this time to prepare for your next steps. This season of transition offers a unique opportunity to reflect on your goals, recharge your spirit, and plan for the future. Whether it's through internships, summer classes, volunteer work, or simply taking time to rest and reflect, make the most of these months. Equip yourself with the tools and mindset needed to embark on your next adventure.

So, as you step forward into this new chapter, I leave you with one question: what will you do this summer to prepare for your future? Whatever your answer, know that we are incredibly proud of you and excited to see all the amazing things you will accomplish.

On behalf of your family at the Kearns Center, congratulations!

Best wishes,

Dr. Miguel Baique
