Cracking the Suffrage Safe

On Tuesday, June 25, 2013, the University’s Susan B. Anthony Center for Women’s Leadership joined the National Council of Women of the United States in their offices in New York City to open a “Woman Suffrage Party" safe.

The National Council of Women of the United States was founded by Susan B. Anthony in 1888 to work on behalf of issues facing women and children. The safe, located at the National Council of Women of the United States' office near the United Nations building in New York City, has never been opened before. The Susan B. Anthony Center for Women's Leadership hired a professional safecracker to break open the accidental time capsule.
