Bridging Diverse Realities and Contexts

Description: As higher education campuses across the United States become more committed to supporting initiatives around social and racial justice initiatives, a question remains as to how students are prepared for the widely differing realities they might experience abroad. Join Diversity Abroad's Task Force for Faculty Engagement to discuss how faculty support students in their experiences of identity, diversity, equity, and inclusion abroad. This Community Discussion will bring together students, faculty, and staff to engage in a significant conversation about how we can create real and supportive bridges to ensure a positive learning experience for students as they move between very different realities and contexts of racial and social justices and contexts.

Format: Virtual learning series for faculty

Description: Faculty play a critical role in advancing student success. As higher education institutions become more globally diverse, faculty are positioned to both advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in and through their work. Additionally as faculty ranks diversify, faculty are positioned to foster a climate of inclusion and belonging to support the success of colleagues from diverse backgrounds. The Inclusive Learning Institute, by Diversity Abroad, is an immersive learning and development event that convenes faculty and other education professionals to explore the intersection of global engagement, diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching and learning. Attendees will engage in critical discussions, share best practices, and build networks to advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and global engagement in pedagogy, curriculum, and co-curricular activities.

IES Abroad Faculty-Led STEM Program and Language Program Award

Deadline for submission: April 1

Description: The IES Abroad Faculty-Led STEM Program Award will provide funding towards two outstanding, STEM-focused faculty-led programs. The winning institution will receive $15,000 and one runner up will receive $5,000.

  • The IES Abroad Faculty-Led Language Program Award will provide $10,000 in funding towards one outstanding, Language-focused faculty-led program.

IES Abroad Faculty Development Seminars

IES Abroad Faculty Development Opportunities are designed to bring together U.S. faculty, international faculty, and local experts for an intellectual exchange of ideas. IES Abroad opportunities explore a wide range of academic topics and attract many experts.

DIS Abroad Faculty Seminars

The Faculty Seminar is a forum for collegial dialogue and social interaction within and across the various DIS programs, and it focuses on the pedagogical identity and development of DIS.
