Michelle Ikediobi

Hometown: Houston, Texas
Anticipated graduation year: 2019
Degree: BS in business: marketing track

Why did you choose the University of Rochester?

Growing up a die-hard Houston lover for 18 years led me to value experiences. I needed to experience more of the world around me and expand my horizons. By applying and getting accepted to the University of Rochester, it not only showed me that I am capable of more, but it also shows other women that it’s possible to grow and evolve.

Why did you choose the business major?

I grew up as an actress, reader, and writer who found a way to make those pieces tie together and create the story of my life. I wanted to continue doing that in my professional life, creating stories. In the marketing field, I am allowed to be the "strategic storyteller."

What has been your favorite undergraduate Simon Business School course and why?

My favorite class so far has been MKT 203: Principles of Marketing, a class taught by John Schloff. It allowed me to truly study marketing on a new level and allowed my love for the topic to grow.

What are your activities outside of class?

Listening to music and creative writing are my favorite outlets to unwind.

Have you done an internship?

Yes, currently I am interning with Citigroup in Competitive Insights and Strategy.

What are your career goals?

I want to be the best in my profession and find the intersection between all realms of business.
