About Us

Orientation Leaders

Orientation leaders will communicate with you in the months prior to your arrival at the University, helping to prepare you for course registration and life at Rochester. They will also help you meet fellow incoming students and serve as your point for any questions you have as you begin your University of Rochester journey.

Meet the 2020-21 Orientation Leaders

IfeOluwa Adefope '21

IfeOluwa, or Ife (pronounced ee-fe), is a rising senior from Lagos, Nigeria, majoring in international relations and legal studies. He is a Meridian, a Student Alumni Ambassador, and the deputy chief justice of the All-Campus Judicial Council, which is the judiciary branch of the student government. When he isn’t playing League of Legends or Dark Souls, he enjoys riding his bicycle and vibing with old and new friends alike. Ife has served an Orientation Volunteer in past years, and is extremely excited to be an Orientation Leader this year and to meet you all!

    Tsion Eshetu '22

Tsion is a rising junior majoring in psychology and brain and cognitive sciences, and minoring in business. She is originally from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Tsion is a student fundraiser at the University of Rochester Call Center, and a Kearns Scholar, as well. She has served as the co-captain of Axum, a sub-group of the Pan-African Students Association. Prior to becoming an Orientation Leader, she served as an Orientation Volunteer in 2019. In her free time, she likes to listen to music and dance, surf through Netflix, read psychology articles, and watch the sunset. She is delighted to be a part of the Orientation team and is excited to welcome you to the wonderful University of Rochester community.

      Waleed Nadeem '23

Waleed is a rising sophomore from Lahore, Pakistan, majoring in business/finance and digital media studies. When he’s not catching up with schoolwork, he can be seen skateboarding around the campus, exploring Rochester with the urban exploring club, watching FC Barcelona play, or working in the student government and Class Council to plan upcoming events. Waleed is excited to welcome the class of 2024 and transfer students into the Yellowjacket family.

        Helena Schreder '22

Helena is a rising junior from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She is majoring in mechanical engineering and minoring in studio arts. On campus, she is a Meridian, a Student Alumni Ambassador, events coordinator for the University of Rochester chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority. This will be her second year working on the Orientation team and she is very excited to welcome new students to the University community.

          Prajita Shrestha '22

Prajita is a part of the Class of 2022, pursuing a degree in both business (on the accounting track) and public health. Outside of classes, she works for a research lab. She also works in the Office of Admissions as an office assistant, a Meridian, and a student interviewer. She is also a Student Alumni Ambassador and the student representative for the Alumni Board. She has lots of fun memories from being a part of the Orientation team as an International Student Mentor last year. This year, she hopes to create more of such memories with the incoming students (you!). People say Prajita is warm and welcoming (and a bit too cheery), so don’t hesitate to pull her aside for a little conversation or two. She might throw in some lame jokes, lamer puns, and woefully wrong song lyrics, but rumor has it that they will grow pretty fast on you.

            Brendon Tran '22

Brendon is a rising junior from Central New Jersey (yes, it does exist), and intends on majoring in both neuroscience and public health. When he's not studying, he's usually getting involved in extracurriculars such as student government, the 2022 Class Council, the Student Alumni Ambassadors, the Meridian Society, dance groups, and GlobeMed. He also works on campus at the Rochester Center for Community Leadership, helping organize events for engagement in Rochester. Outside of campus, Brendon interns at a nearby health clinic that specializes in health equity for marginalized communities. In his free time (if any), he enjoys hammocking on the Eastman Quad with his friends and procrastinating. He was involved in Orientation last year and loved getting to know the upcoming first-years and transfers, and is excited to welcome the new Yellowjackets this year!
