COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Information

A Note from Our Office

Due to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak, the Office of Orientation and First-Year Programs is currently working remotely. We continue to be available during our office hours (Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-noon, and 1-5 p.m.) and are responding to all inquiries through email and phone. You can reach us by email at or by phone at (585) 275-4414.

The mission of the Office of Orientation and First-Year Programs is to support incoming students and families in their transition to the University of Rochester. This summer, we will offer our programming online, and we will continue to keep you informed regarding academics and co-curricular activities. View the summer online orientation schedule.

Mandatory COVID-19 Safety Training Module (Now Available)

The University has launched an online COVID-19 Safety Training Module that all students, faculty and staff need to complete in preparation for safely returning/arriving to campus. It is designed to ensure that everyone clearly understands the operational and procedural changes the University has made in response to COVID-19, as well as explains the personal precautions that University community members are expected to take in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, including adhering to face covering and social distancing guidelines.

All incoming students should access and complete the training as soon as possible in preparation for your arrival on campus. You will be able to access the training module through Blackboard with the module listed as Return to Campus COVID-19 Safety Training. It should take no more than 15 minutes to complete and can be completed on a computer, phone, or tablet. Once you have reviewed all of the information, check the Accept button at the end to verify your participation.

The COVID-19 Safety module needs to be completed before starting to use the Dr. ChatBot health screening app, but the training does not automatically enroll you in Dr. ChatBot—separate instructions for using Dr. ChatBot will be forthcoming. Questions? Please contact Environmental Health & Safety at Again, for the safety of all University of Rochester community members, the COVID-19 Safety Training Module is mandatory.
