Our online orientation program is designed to introduce you to University academics, student life, and the many resources available to you. We hope these information sessions and webinars will make your transition to the University as smooth as possible.

While many sessions are optional, please note that there will be required sessions to complete throughout the program. Most sessions will be recorded and available for viewing with captioning following the live presentations.

Academic Open Houses

In addition to the webinars below, academic departments and programs will host virtual open houses throughout June and July. These sessions will give you the opportunity to chat directly with faculty and academic staff about the various academic offerings available to you. Registration Instructions

These sessions are for enrolled students and their families. Please click on Register Now below each webinar to be directed to the registration page. If you are a student, please activate your Rochester email address BEFORE registering. Then, please enter your full name and your University email address (@u.rochester.edu) on the registration page. To register as a family member, simply enter your full name and email address.

The University of Rochester is committed to providing inclusive experiences and equal access to programs and services. Academic Honesty in AS&E: What, Why, and How
This interactive webinar will provide you with a basic understanding of the academic honesty policy and system in the College and introduce you to the resources, personnel, and training available to you throughout your time at Rochester.

It is REQUIRED that you attend this

UR BADASS!
What does it mean to be a BADASS Bystander at the U of R? BADASS means Being Aware, Deciding to Act, and Saying Something! Join the Title IX Office as they provide information about student’s rights, resources, and options for reporting sexual misconduct at the University.

In this session, you will learn practical tools for communicating about consent and boundaries, learning to spot the differences between a healthy or unhealthy relationship, while also acquiring skills to be active bystanders who take action to interrupt harm and generate positive actions by others. Let’s create consent culture on campus and become BADASS Bystanders!

One Community
Presented by the Paul J. Burgett Intercultural Center
The One Community program will engage you and your fellow incoming students in conversation to explore the way the University of Rochester community is shaped by all of our intersecting identities.

The program begins with an hour-long webinar, during which University of Rochester upperclassmen will share narratives about the ways in which their various identities have positively and negatively affected their college experiences. This session will be followed by small group discussions via Blackboard, in which you will explore the presentations and reflect on your own experiences.

Celebrate Diversity
Through the power of music and dance, this annual celebration of diversity and community will introduce you to the University’s richly diverse and inclusive community. For 17 years, Celebrate Diversity, a program created by the Office of the Dean of Students, continues to be one of the programs incoming students most fondly remember as seniors. By partnering with the Eastman School of Music, you’ll enjoy an evening of music and dance, performed by talented students from both schools. Celebrate Diversity helps you see the kind of diversity, equity, and inclusion you will experience at Rochester and truly understand what we mean by One University.
