1989: End of the System marks the 25th anniversary of the collapse of Communism in Central and Eastern Europe, with emphasis on the role of the Solidarity movement in Poland. The exhibition, illustrated with photographs, posters, press cuttings, personal accounts and documents, gives the viewer a behind-the-scenes look at the transition towards democracy in Central and Eastern Europe.

From the origins of Solidarity in Poland to the turning point of partially-free elections held in Poland in June 1989, the exhibition gives a comprehensive picture of the interrelated political changes taking place across the region that jointly contributed to the fall of the Iron Curtain.
