About me...

Hello! I'm Laith Awad Mohamad, a proud Palestinian-Puerto Rican senior. My academic journey took a fascinating turn when I began my research during my first semester in the Aab Cardiovascular Research Institute under the esteemed Dr. Pang's guidance. What's noteworthy is that I embarked on this research journey with no prior research experience.

Our lab primarily focuses on understanding the intricate molecular mechanisms behind angiogenesis and vascular remodeling, both in physiological and pathological contexts. I've been privileged to collaborate directly with Dr. Pang on a project spotlighting Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) – a significant health concern as it remains the leading cause of death for both men and women in the US.

Recently, I've transitioned my focus towards Public Health research. Here, I'm passionately exploring the profound implications of social determinants on the health of marginalized communities. This endeavor is not just a superficial study; it dives deep into the multifarious factors that critically shape the health trajectories of the underserved segments of our society.

And as I advance, I'm thrilled to mentor new students and facilitate their initiation into undergraduate research!
