Yellowjacket Weekend will take place September 1-4, 2017.

Friday September 1, 2017

1:00 pm – Field Hockey vs. Nazareth College – Fauver Stadium

3:30 pm – 5:00 pm – Activities Fair – Dandelion Square & Wilson Quad
The Fall Activities Fair will be held on Friday September 2nd from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm on Dandelion Square (rain location Goergen Athletic Center). Come check out all of the wonderful clubs that the University has to offer. The event will feature live demonstrations and an opportunity to get involved on campus.

6:30 pm, 9:15 pm, 12:00 am – Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 – Hoyt Auditorium
Peter Quill and his fellow Guardians are hired by a powerful alien race, the Sovereign, to protect their precious batteries from invaders. When it is discovered that Rocket has stolen the items they were sent to guard, the Sovereign dispatch their armada to search for vengeance. As the Guardians try to escape, the mystery of Peter's parentage is revealed. Admission is free and light refreshments will be available at the midnight showing. 09:00 pm – 1 am – Laser Tag - Wilson Quad
Celebrate Yellow Jacket Weekend with UR Late Night’s Outdoor Laser Tag and Mobile Video Game Theater event! Check out the UR Late Night website and Facebook for more details and updates regarding registration! Sponsored by UR Late Night.

10 pm – Free Pool and Popcorn – Rocky’s Sub Shop and Lounge
Enjoy free popcorn and pool until Rocky’s closes at 1 am.

10:30 pm – Friday Night Live Coffeehouse featuring Sylvia Anderson - Starbucks
Sylvia Anderson is a sophomore studying Business (Marketing) and Psychology. She started singing in the high school musical theatre scene and since has been trained in jazz and classical music. In addition to singing, she also enjoys playing the piano, ukeulele, and a little trumpet. Her main inspirations in music include Amy Winehouse, Regina Spektor, and Ella Fitzgerald, but she also loves listening to Panic! at the disco, Fall Out Boy, and 90s pop. Fun fact: she lived in 7 different homes all over the world when growing up, but now she calls Rochester home. Sponsored by the Student Programming Board.

Get in line early on Wilson Quad for a favorite tradition of Yellowjacket Weekend! Come get a "Feel the Sting" Shirt that has your class year on it to show both school and class year pride. You can keep this shirt for years to come to remember all the fun that you had this weekend as well as at the University of Rochester! These shirts are for UR River Campus/Eastman undergrads only and ID is required. Sponsored by Wilson Commons Student Activities and Class Councils.

2:00 pm – Yellowjacket Weekend Carnival – Wilson Quad
One of the biggest parts of YellowJacket Weekend is the carnival that occurs on Saturday afternoon. This year it'll be in front of Wilson Commons on Wilson Quad. There will be rides from Hammerl Amusements, novelties from Blue Apple Productions, and food from J&S Fried Dough and Abbott's Frozen Custard. Kappa Alpha Theta will also be giving out free popsicles at the event. Sponsored by Wilson Commons Student Activities and Student Programming Board, Wilson Commons Student Activities, and Kappa Alpha Theta.

2:00 pm – Student Music Showcase – Wilson Quad
The Student Programming Board is proud to present the first ever Student Music Showcase, an afternoon featuring a diverse sample of music acts based on the River Campus. Swing by the Wilson Quad anytime from 2:30-6:30, and you'll hear a little bit of everything, from acoustic solo singers to jazz fusion to heavy metal. Sponsored by the Student Programming Board.

5:00 pm - Sig Ep Luau Dinner – Douglass Dining
Come by the new Douglass Dining to get the last taste of summer at Sig Ep's Luau. It's a great place to catch up with friends and share a delicious meal. Some food items include Orange Chili Marinated Pork Sliders w/ Mango Salsa, NYS Free Range Huli Huli Chicken, Hawaiian Fried Rice, Coconut Creamed Spinach, Hawaiian Pizza, Tropical Fruit Salad, Arugula Salad w/ Sweet Maui Onion and Hearts of Palm, Coconut Banana Smoothies, and Pineapple Upside Down Cake. 8:00 pm – Oh Wonder Yellowjacket Weekend Concert – Feldman Ballroom, Douglass Commons
Oh Wonder is a London based alt-pop duo consisting of Josephine Vander Gucht and Anthony West. Since releasing their DIY debut album, they have seen international success with their alt-pop singles. Tickets are $5 for undergraduate students, $10 for Graduate students, and $15 for the general public. Tickets can be purchased at the Common Market or online at starting August 21, 2017. Sponsored by the Student Programming Board.

11:00 pm – Late Night Bingo – Hirst Lounge
Come out for a fun night of bingo! Prizes will include an assortment of groceries and toiletry items. All UR students are welcome to attend. Sponsored by Wilson Commons Student Activities and UR Late Night.

12:00 pm – 2:00 pm Fresh Juice Samples – Grab&Go, Douglass Commons
Enjoy a refreshing juice sample at Grab&Go.

12:00 pm – 3:00 pm – Bubble Bowl – Wilson Quad
Participate in the Annual Bubble Soccer tournament. The cost for this event is $12 per person. Sponsored by Alpha Delta Phi

8:00 pm – Blackout – Hoyt Auditorium
A tradition at the U of R since 1999. It gives an opportunity for different underrepresented minority organizations on campus to welcome incoming freshmen. There will be an opportunity for various organizations to convey their political agendas for the upcoming academic year. Sponsored by the Black Students’ Union.

12:00 pm – 6:00 pm Buses to Eastview Mall
Buses will run between ITS and Eastview mall 12:00 pm – 6:00 pm. Sponsored by Roc Tix and the Student Programming Board.
