Garnish Award winners honored
Ten student-athletes received the Lysle (Spike) Garnish Scholar-Athlete awards. The Garnish Program was created in honor of Garnish, coach and mentor to many Rochester student-athletes from 1930 to 1948. |Tatiana Pasternak, professor of neurobiology and anatomy at the Medical Center, has been elected secretary of the Society for Neuroscience, one of the largest science societies in the world with more than 41,000 members.
||Two poems by James Longenbach, the Joseph Henry Gilmore Professor of English, were featured in the September issue of Poetry magazine. His poem “Cruise” was also chosen by Robert Pinsky as a Poem of the Week on Slate during September.
||Alok Khorana, vice chief of the hematology/oncology division at the Wilmot Cancer Center, has been appointed chairman of the Hemostasis and Malignancy Subcommittee of the International Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis.
||Stefenie King, a part-time instructor at Highland Family Medicine, has received a 2012 Pfizer Teacher Development Award from the American Academy of Family Physicians Foundation|
