- Annual gifts helped with the completion of a $3.3 million renovation of the Radiation Oncology Unit, which enabled additional treatment options for cancer patients in the Rochester area. The new unit features RapidArc™ Radiotherapy technology, which is much faster than conventional radiotherapy and can reduce a patient’s treatment time by as much as 50 percent. Another new technology at Highland is a “4D” CT scanner, which radiation oncologists use to monitor each patient’s unique breathing cycle. This enables physicians to more precisely define the radiation target and protect healthy tissue.
