The George Eastman Circle is pleased to announce Peggy Noonan, columnist for The Wall Street Journal and best-selling author, will be the featured speaker at the Meliora Weekend George Eastman Circle event on Friday, October 11, 2013.
Forbes Magazine has called Noonan's columns "principled, perceptive, persuasive, and patriotic." Her essays have appeared in TIME, Newsweek, The Washington Post, and other publications; she also provides frequent political commentary on television.
Noonan was a special assistant to President Ronald Reagan from 1984 to 1986. In 1988 she was chief speechwriter for Vice President George H. W. Bush when he ran for the presidency. Before entering the Reagan White House, Noonan was a producer at CBS News in New York. In 1978 and 1979 she was an adjunct professor of journalism at New York University.
Invitations to events - such as the Noonan event, the Meliora Weekend keynote address featuring Robert Gates, former U.S. Secretary of Defense, and "An Evening with Bob Costas" in Rochester this August - are among the many benefits available to current George Eastman Circle members.
Additional details on Meliora Weekend and specific information about how to purchase tickets for the Robert Gates keynote address, and the exclusive Peggy Noonan event, will be mailed to homes this summer.
