Catherine Murphy*

Catherine Murphy ’45E (MM) loved seeing her students succeed—it was one of her greatest joys. Her own distinguished career as a pianist and academic surely inspired similar pride from her professors at the Eastman School of Music. And because of a trust provision she made for Eastman years ago, she will continue to help students aspiring to careers in music for generations to come.

Catherine’s gift, made in honor of her brother, Carl Amt ’37E (MA), ultimately resulted in an endowed scholarship fund. The Catherine A. Murphy and Carl E. Amt Endowment Fund pays tribute to a strong bond between siblings and will forever support students who aim to leave their musical mark on the world.
