For Clare Rotenberg, learning about the Palliative Care Program at Strong Memorial Hospital was eye opening. “That kind of comprehensive care could have changed my parents’ lives when they were seriously ill— and our lives as caregivers. So we decided if we could help others benefit from it, that’s what we should do.”

She and her husband, Jerry Rotenberg ’52, established an endowed fund and a charitable trust to support the program. “The trust offers us a stream of income during our lifetimes and the chance to make a meaningful commitment to the University,” said Jerry. “We’ve been very fortunate,” said Clare, “And, as we tell our kids, you can’t just take, you have to give.”
