JOHN SANTOS ’65M (MD) AND JULIA MARTINEZ-SANTOS

As a young man, John Santos ’65M (MD) had the love and support of family who taught him the value of hard work, encouraged his  success in school, and nurtured his dream to become a physician.

“My immigrant grandparents and parents provided a rich upbringing but could do little  to fund my higher education. The scholarship support I received was vital. It enabled me to receive excellent personalized training from world-class faculty at the School of Medicine and Dentistry and to graduate with modest student debt. I am happy to now be on the giving end.”

John, (a retired cardiologist) and his wife Julia Martinez-Santos (a neuropsychiatrist) are helping to remove barriers for new generations of aspiring physicians. The Santos Unitrust, funded with appreciated securities, will eventually endow the John and Amelia Santos Memorial Scholarship in memory of John’s parents. John and Julia’s meaningful gift also pays them five percent income for life.

“It’s our responsibility to help make the world a better place. Creating opportunity for talented young people with financial need is one way to do this.”

John and Julia are Founding Members of the Wilson Society.
