The University’s Ain Center for Entrepreneurship has been selected to host the Romanian Professor Entrepreneurship Education and Networking Program, bringing 18 professors from technical universities to the River Campus over the next three years.
The program begins this fall and will enable Romanian IT professors to design and implement state-of-the-art entrepreneurship education. It is funded by the Bucharest-based Romanian-American Foundation and will be conducted in partnership with the Fulbright Commission beginning with the 2017-18 school year.
The Ain Center offers innovative undergraduate and graduate coursework. It is led by Vice Provost for Entrepreneurship Duncan Moore, and is named in recognition of Mark S. Ain ’67 (MBA) and his wife, Carolyn, for their visionary leadership and support of entrepreneurial students University-wide.
“The University of Rochester Ain Center for Entrepreneurship is honored to be recognized as a leader in entrepreneurship higher education,” Mark Ain said. “We are excited to host these visiting Romanian faculty and Fulbright Scholars and demonstrate our entrepreneurship curriculum and programming. At the conclusion of their time here, they will be equipped with the skillset necessary to return to Romania and launch entrepreneurship inititatives at their respective universities.”
Included in the semester program are visits to innovation hubs such as Boston and Washington, D.C. Ioana Gabriela Costache, the Consul General of Romania in New York City, plans to visit the River Campus this fall.
The selected professors’ expertise will be in technology and sciences.
“Part of our five-year strategic plan for entrepreneurship at the University of Rochester focused on international relationships,” Moore said. “This grant award will position Rochester as a renowned destination for entrepreneurship educators.”
The Romanian-American Foundation is a philanthropic organization with a mission to promote conditions for a sustainable market economy and democratic society that provides access to opportunity for all segments of the Romanian population.
The Council on International Education Exchange (CIEE) is a grantee of the Romanian-American Foundation and will oversee promotion of the fellowship in Romania while administering the program in the United States.
