Description of LA BELLE VUE
Barbara Philipp

The visitor descends into a dark, damp cellar where a video is projected. In the video, the infrared light of the camera leads the viewer down into another shadowy, mysterious cellar. After passing the entrance door the sight opens to a corridor leading to various assigned spaces. Strange tubes and white cardboard boxes can be perceived through the wooden boards of these spaces. A masculine voice recites suggestive French wine vocabulary, giving an acoustic orientation, but vineyard names are never mentioned. The describing words underline the suspended atmosphere. Desire, provoked by the sensual, tasty and colourful language appears out of its context and remains with the almost black and white images.
