You may search for a single word, several words, or a phrase.

A search for art history architecture will return documents containing all those words, but not necessarily together as a phrase.

A space between words is treated the same as putting the command AND between them, so a search for art history architecture is the same as a search for art and history and architecture.

To search for documents containing any of the words art history architecture use the command word OR.

  • example: art or history or architecture

To search for an exact phrase enclose the words in quotes.

  • example: "art history"

The number of web pages your search finds will vary depending on which syntax you use. Phrase searches should produce the smallest number, but most focused results. "OR" searches should produce the greatest number of results, but many documents will not be relevant.
