Windows VPN Errors
University IT engineers have identified the potential for a connection error (Error 789) when using the native VPN client on Windows 7 (32- and 64-bit) machines with Service Pack 1 installed. When machines running these operating systems enter sleep or hibernate modes, or abruptly disconnect (for example, by closing a laptop when traveling between meetings) during a VPN session, users may be unable to re-establish a connection until the session timer expires.
How to Resolve Windows VPN Connection Error
Download the Cisco VPN client for Windows, which is available to all users with an active relationship with the University.
- Visit the University IT VPN page.
- Log in with your NetID and password.
- Select the appropriate client for your operating system and follow the instructions provided on the page.
