WHO: More than 20 female students at the University of Rochester will perform The Vagina Monologues, the Eve Ensler play that, through a series of monologues, explores the many emotions and experiences that come with being female.
TIME, DATE, PLACE: 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23, in Hubble Auditorium, located in Hutchinson Hall on the University's River Campus.
WHAT: The Vagina Monologues will be performed in conjunction with V-Day, a global movement to stop gender-based violence that runs through the month of February. Rochester's production of the play will include a short film created for V-Day's 2013 campaign, One Billion Rising. Additionally, seniors performing in the play will stand up and deliver monologues that explain why they choose to participate in the production.
The Vagina Monologues is presented by the Women's Caucus, and is sponsored by the Susan B. Anthony Center for Women's Leadership and the Susan B. Anthony Institute for Gender & Women's Studies.
TICKETS: Tickets, which are $5 for University of Rochester undergraduates and $7 for the general public, can be purchased at the Common Market in Wilson Commons or at the door. Proceeds from the play will benefit Rochester nonprofit Safe Journey as well as the V-Day global foundation.
