Alumni College in Ireland
August 29-September 6, 1999

This new program will be held in Kinsale, near Cork City on Ireland's southwest coast. Described as the quintessential Irish seaside village, Kinsale has a history that was shaped by a 1601 battle in which the Irish and the Spanish were defeated by the English, who closed the village to Irish settlers for 200 years. Its past as a major shipbuilding center has become a present as a yachting and deep sea fishing port. The itinerary includes excursions through West Cork to view beautiful Bantry Bay, Garinish Island, and the Ring of Kerry. Excursions to Blarney Castle and Cobh, port of departure for hundreds of thousands of Irish emigrants, provide insights into Irish history.

Alumni College in Tuscany
September 21-29, 1999

Pienza is the setting for this Alumni Campus Abroad® program, the most popular trip we offered in 1998. Pienza, located in the heart of Tuscany, is a 15th-century walled town planned by Pope Pius II as the ideal city. It will serve as your base for trips to Siena, Perugia, Assisi, and Florence as you learn about the history and art of Italy.

Village Life in Heidelberg
October 2-10, 1999

Enjoy an eight-day immersion into the culture and history of Germany's Black Forest region. You'll stay in the walled town of Neckargemünd, four miles from Heidelberg. Excursions to Heidelberg, Darmstadt, Rothenburg, and Tübingen are designed to provide you with the flavor of this lovely region along the Neckar River.
