NEAR AND FAR--ALUMNI SAY 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY!'

Regional Sesquicentennial Events

Regional Sesquicentennial events continued apace last spring, as alumni geared up for the Sesquicentennial Weekend celebration October 12-15 on campus.

Beginning last fall, alumni in nearly 20 cities have been gathering to celebrate the University's 150th birthday, to reminisce with one another, and to renew their ties to classmates and friends.


Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C./BALTIMORE, March 30: The Yellowjackets take the stage as part of the program at the National Museum for Women in the Arts.



San Diego

SAN DIEGO, May 20: Alumni and friends enjoy the Southern California sunset as a calypso band plays during the event at the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club.



Chicago

CHICAGO, March 11: John '54 and Mary Haskins Atkinson '55, regional committee member Suzanne Timble '67, and committee chairman David Kudish '65 pause for a photo during the celebration at the Chicago Historical Society.



Morristown, New Jersey

MORRISTOWN, NEW JERSEY, April 2: Joe Mack '55, national chairman of the Sesquicentennial celebration, and Mary Ault Morris '45 chat at the Morris Museum.



North Carolina

NORTH CAROLINA, April 8: Dean Thomas LeBlanc presents a token of appreciation to Don '55 and Mary Gay Brady, the chairs of the North Carolina Sesquicentennial committee.



Atlanta

ATLANTA, April 9: Regional committee co-chairs Roger Rochat '62, Kathy Waller '80, '83S (MBA), and Jerry Gardner '58, '65 (Mas) (left to right) were among the more than 100 alumni at the Fernbank Museum of Natural History.



New York City

NEW YORK CITY, April 13: John Greene, University Trustee Gwen Meltzer Greene '65, Helen Wisch, Trustees' Council of the College President Nathaniel Wisch '55, and Trustees' Council member Jono Rosen '94 toast the University during the celebration at the New-York Historical Society.



Greenwich

GREENWICH, May 21: University Trustee Myra Gelband '71, Trustees' Council of the College member John Tanenbaum '85, and his wife, Amy, joined 75 other alumni for a reception at the home of Alan '66 and Jane Batkin '68.



Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, June 3: George Landberg '61, '64 (Mas) receives a sweatshirt from University Provost Charles Phelps. About 110 people attended the event at the Independence Seaport Museum.
