Renovated Gym Sets Hearts Racing

Students began working out in the newly renovated Edmund A. Hajim Alumni Gymnasium in March, getting an early taste of a $14 million overhaul of the entire athletic center completed this fall.

The gym, named for Hajim '58, a member of the Board of Trustees, includes a state-of-the-art fitness area as well as expanded space for personal and organized exercise.

It also is the principal component of the renovation of the 200,000 square-foot center.

The renovated athletic complex--which is now named the Robert B. Goergen Athletic Center after Goergen '60, chairman of the Board of Trustees --is being formally dedicated during Sesquicentennial Weekend, October 12-15.

The construction also includes a new brick pathway, named Dandelion Square, that connects the Goergen Center, Wilson Commons, and the Frederick Douglass Building.
