BURGETT NAMED VICE PRESIDENT AND GENERAL SECRETARY

Paul Burgett has added a new dimension to his longtime service to the University. On June 1, Burgett joined the President's Office as vice president and general secretary, senior advisor to the president, and University dean.

As general secretary, Burgett has key responsibilities for Board of Trustees relations. Burgett also will help represent the President's Office among the alumni and within the local community.

"These are two arenas in which Paul is very well known," President Jackson said in announcing the appointment. "Decades of alumni, from all academic divisions, know 'Dean Burgett,' and will be delighted to have any and all opportunities to visit with him again. He is also deeply involved in a variety of community matters and widely respected by our off-campus friends and colleagues."

Vice president and chief student affairs officer since 1987, Burgett also is an adjunct professor of music in the College's music department. Before joining the River Campus, he served as dean of students at the Eastman School from 1981 to 1987. He holds his bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in music education from Eastman.
