The former chairman of a public-private partnership dedicated to improving the economic performance of the Rochester area has been named to the University’s Board of Trustees.

Thomas Richards, who has also served as chairman of the parent company of Rochester Gas & Electric, was most recently the volunteer chairman of the Greater Rochester Enterprise.

A longtime partner in the Rochester law firm now known as Nixon Peabody, Richards is a graduate of Bucknell University and Cornell Law School. He also serves on the boards of the Medical Center, the Visiting Nurse Service, and Rochester Institute of Technology.
