Richard Aslin, professor of brain and cognitive sciences, has been named the William R. Kenan Jr. Professor, a professorship awarded to a distinguished faculty member who is particularly effective in teaching undergraduates.

Janet Catherine Berlo, professor of art history and visual and cultural studies, has been selected as a fellow at the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, Massachusetts.

Dante Cicchetti, the Shirley Cox Kearns Professor of Psychology, received an award for Distinguished Contributions to Psychology in the Public Interest by the American Psychological Association.

Ronald Epstein, professor of family medicine and psychiatry, received a Fulbright Senior Specialist grant to travel to Spain to consult on ways to improve communication between doctors and their patients.

Deborah Friedman, a physician at the University’s Eye Institute, has won a career development award from the National Eye Institute.

David Guzick, dean of the School of Medicine and Dentistry, was one of 15 people worldwide elected to the Society of Scholars, which recognizes leaders who spent part of their careers at Johns Hopkins University.

William Hall, the Paul Fine Professor of Medicine, Oncology and Pediatrics, was awarded the Albert David Kaiser Medal by the Rochester Academy of Medicine.

Michael King, assistant professor of biomedical engineering, has won a James D. Watson Investigator award from New York State.

Todd Krauss, assistant professor of chemistry, and David Pinto, assistant professor of neurobiology and anatomy and biomedical engineering, were among the 116 scientists nationwide to receive Alfred P. Sloan Foundation research fellowships.

James Schneider of the Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network, has been named Region 9 representative of the Organ Availability Committee of the United Network for Organ Sharing.

John Thomas, professor of mechanical engineering and astronomy, was named a senior visiting fellow of the Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences at the University of Cambridge, England.
