Report: University in Top 10 for Technology Revenue

chart of tech transfer growth

Rochester ranks among the top universities in the country when it comes to earning money for commercial rights for research. That’s according to the latest revenue report published by the Association for University Technology Managers. Companies around the world paid Rochester more than $26 million for commercial rights during the year ending June 30, 2003, the latest fiscal year covered by the report.

That figure, which places the University as the eighth highest in the nation, was surpassed by Rochester’s latest revenue numbers, which show the University brought in more than $33 million from licensing in the 2004 fiscal year.

Technology revenue has increased steadily since the University began actively promoting technology transfer more than a decade ago. In 2002, the University saw a record-breaking return of $42 million as a number of patent issues were settled and brought income to the University.
