A ‘Weight’-y Title

Andrew Wunder ’05 Anne Baker ’05

In something of a track-and-field doubleheader, weight throwers Andrew Wunder ’05 and Anne Baker ’05 both represented Rochester in the NCAA Division III indoor track and field national championships last winter.

Wunder earned All-American honors, finishing sixth overall with a distance of 17.66 meters (57 ft., 11.25 in.).

Baker, who failed to finish in the top eight at the national meet, set a University record at the New York State Collegiate Track Conference meet with a throw of 16.20 meters (53 ft., 1.75 in.). That performance tied a conference record and qualified her for the NCAAs.

Also competing in the national championships were Matt Tierney ’06, who finished fourth in his 400-meter heat, and the 4-by-400-meter relay team of Kirk Bristol ’06, Brian MacIlvain ’07, Chris Clark ’06, and Tierney, who finished fourth in a preliminary heat.
