Athletics Inducts 14 into Hall

HONOREES: The Department of Athletics and Recreation inducted
a new class into the Hall of Fame during Meliora Weekend last fall. Recognized
this year were (back row, left to right): Gary Ciarleglio ’89 (football),
Tyler Zachem ’88 (basketball), Christopher Fite ’92 (basketball),
Joachim Hammer ’88 (tennis), Gregory Conrad ’72 (football),
Joseph Mello ’92 (cross-country); (front row): Thomas Sheehan ’90
(football), John Burgess ’59 (golf and basketball), Debra Poletto
’79 (volleyball and basketball), Mernie Bacon Whitcomb ’49 (field
hockey, volleyball, basketball, and synchronized swimming), Kelly Gorman
Rakowski ’91 (soccer), Harry Stathe ’52 (baseball and football).
Inducted posthumously were Zenon Snylyk ’55, a former Olympic and
World Cup soccer player, and Hazel Wilbraham ’27, a former faculty
member who taught physical education and for whom the University’s
