1980

Patrick Ryan, president and CEO of PolyMedica Corp., has been appointed to the board of directors of Hillenbrand Industries. He serves on the board of Affiliated Managers Group, an asset management company.

1981

Dustin Aldridge writes that he was recognized in May 2007 as a fellow of the Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technology. He is a staff engineer and manager for validation, test, and warranty engineering at the Delphi Mexico Technical Center. Dustin notes that “many of the ‘founding fathers’ in accelerated test and reliability sciences have achieved this” honor, and applauds the University for “allowing people to follow their dreams in tailoring and expanding their curriculum.” . . . Russell Faust writes that he has published the first book on robotics in surgery: Robotics in Surgery: History, Current and Future Applications (Nova Science Publishers, 2007). A followup in the works is titled Robotic Surgery in the Head and Neck (Plural Publishing).

1983

Dave Aikens ’84 (MS) writes that he has “struck out on his own and founded Savvy Optics Corp., a Connecticut optics technology company focused on optics specifications, drawings, and instrumentation.” He will continue to serve the optics industry as a volunteer on both the ANSI and ISO standards committees and expects to be teaching classes at Photonics West in January on optics drawings and surface imperfections. . . . Brian ’83 and Robin Kaufer Kain ’84 write that their son, Mitchell, has joined the Class of 2011.

1984

Richard Hark writes that since 2001 he has been a faculty member in the chemistry department at Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pa. He received the Outstanding Faculty Award in 2004 and the Gibbel Award for Teaching Excellence in 2007. He has been promoted to full professor and will be spending an upcoming sabbatical studying works of art using Raman microscopy at University College London. . . . Jeffrey Sperber has been appointed a regional director of development at Syracuse University.

1985

Forrest Strauss sends an update: He has been appointed village justice for the Village of Monroe in New York, one of the first justice courts to be created in the state in more than 20 years. The position is in addition to his service as an acting village justice in neighboring Harriman (both positions are part time) and his ongoing full-time work as a staff attorney for the Grievance Committee for the 9th District in White Plains. Forrest writes, “I’m very busy and perpetually tired, but happily so!”

1987

Peter Antonucci has joined the New York office of Greenberg Traurig. He will focus on product liability, toxic torts, and punitive damages. . . . Michael Lange sends a photo of himself with Therese Castro during their participation in a Mini Cooper parade in Virginia Beach this June. In all, 273 Mini Coopers traveled an uninterrupted five-mile route, breaking the previous World Record of 269 held by a British club. Proceeds benefited the Naval Special Warfare Foundation and UDT Seal Association. Peter writes that while the car belongs to Therese, he received TIPS credit—“Tush In Passenger Seat.”

1988

Michael Colucci is in private practice as an orthopaedic surgeon as a partner at Orthopaedic Associates of Rochester. He lives in Webster, N.Y., with his wife, Maureen Dlugozima, and their sons, 8-year-old Nicholas, and 4-year-old Jackson. Michael writes, “I have been having fun helping coach my son’s hockey and baseball teams. Can’t believe that our 20th reunion is next year!”
