SCORING SUCCESS: The work of Emmy Award–winning composer Jeff Beal ’85E can be heard in several feature films set to debut in 2008.

Composer Jeff Beal ’85E won his third Emmy Award this fall for his dramatic underscore to Nightmares and Dreamscapes, the TNT anthology based on the stories of Stephen King.

The winning episode, called “Battleground,” starred William Hurt as a hired assassin stalked by little green Army men. Directed by Brian Henson, the hour-long episode had no dialogue, and the orchestral score composed and conducted by Beal was featured from start to finish.

Beal, whose most recent CD is the soundtrack to the HBO series Rome, has received five Emmy nominations in the last two years.

His work can also be heard weekly on ABC’s Ugly Betty and USA’s Monk. Also listen for his work in several feature films scheduled to premiere in 2008, including Al Pacino’s documentary Salomaybe? and The Deal, a comedy starring William H. Macy and Meg Ryan.
