LEADER: Chiverton oversaw the creation of the Center for Nursing Entrepreneurship, the first program of its kind in the country.

Pat Chiverton ’80N (MS), ’91W (EdD) will step down at the end of the academic year as leader of the School of Nursing after eight years as dean.

Chiverton, who holds the University’s first Pamela York Klainer Endowed Chair in Nursing Entrepreneurship, is credited with launching a rebirth in nursing at Rochester, where she has overseen growth in enrollment, the launch of several new programs, and the school’s first renovation and expansion of its facilities.

Also vice president of Strong Health Nursing, Chiverton has been a member of the School of Nursing faculty since 1984. She has also served the school as interim dean, associate dean for clinical affairs, CEO of the Community Nursing Center, and interim chair for the health care services division.

A search committee, chaired by University Provost Ralph Kuncl, will choose her successor.
