1980

Forbes Riley, an actress who has starred in numerous infomercials, has introduced her own product, the Portable Spin Gym, which helps tone upper body muscles and can be carried in a purse. . . . Kathy Waller ’83S (MBA), a University trustee, has been promoted from vice president and chief of internal audit to controller of the Coca-Cola Co.

1981

Anthony Graham, the president and chief operating officer of Archonix Systems, a provider of software and services to the public safety industry, has been elected to the board of directors of the financial services consulting company, BrandPartners.

1982

Kathleen Flanigan ’83 (MS) has been appointed the president and chief executive officer of Abt Associates, a firm that provides policy, survey, and clinical research. Kathleen was previously the group vice president of the company’s social, economic, and health policy unit.

1983

Rich Lozyniak ’84S (MBA) has been named the chief executive officer of the High Falls Brewing Co. in Rochester. . . . James Middleton sends a photo and an update. He writes: “Friends from the Class of ’83 met for a long weekend of hiking, good meals, and frivolity in Aspen in September 2008. Traveling from Boston, New York City, northern New Jersey, Detroit, and Denver—and about to hike the beautiful Maroon Bell—are, from left to right, Rod Rinkus, David Sherman, James, Craig Harrison ’84, Michael Cohen, Dan Roach, Bruce Kahn ’84, and Dave Lewy. Peter Adelman, who is not pictured, also joined us. It was not clear at the time of their graduation whether any of this crew would amount to much. Happily, all are seemingly well-adjusted family men and successfully contributing to their various professions in computer science, law, and business. And a few are still playing music.”

1984

Lisa O’Neill Brandon has been named vice president and director of design operations at Mactec, a provider of engineering, environmental, and construction services. Lisa works in the Wakefield, Mass., office of the firm, which is based in Atlanta. . . . Craig Harrison (see ’83). . . . Bruce Kahn (see ’83).

1985

Jim Leonard sends an update. He has lived in Tucson, Ariz., for the past 20 years and is the chief executive officer of Natures Massage as well as an environmental engineer and activist. He adds: “Some rise, some fall, some climb to get to Terrapin.”

1986

Lisa Pierson Bork writes that she has published a mystery novel, For Better, For Murder (Midnight Ink). . . . Jessa Margoshes Kilgore writes that she has been named the chair of a new professional association, the Professional Exchange of Human Resource Solutions, which provides networking and learning opportunities for human resource technology professionals in the New York tristate and mid-Atlantic regions.

1988

Bernadette McNary-Zak, an associate professor of religious studies at Rhodes College in Memphis, has coedited a book, Resurrecting the Brother of Jesus: The James Ossuary Controversy and the Quest for Religious Relics (University of North Carolina Press). . . . Lisa Grunberger, an assistant professor of English at Temple University and a yoga instructor, reports that she has released her new book, Yiddish Yoga: Ruthie’s Adventures in Love, Loss, and the Lotus Position (Newmarket Press), just in time for Hanukkah. The book is a humorous story about a recently widowed Jewish grandmother who receives a year of yoga classes from her granddaughter to help her grieve.
