Trustees Physician and Corporate Consultant Joins Board of Trustees
Ferrari Board Member: A highly regarded consultant, Ferrari holds degrees in medicine, law, and business.

Bernard Ferrari ’70, ’74M (MD), a former director and partner in the global management consulting firm of McKinsey & Company, has been elected to the University’s Board of Trustees.

For 20 years, Ferrari was a partner in the Los Angeles and New York offices of McKinsey & Company. He retired in 2008 and started Ferrari Consultancy based in New York City.

Ferrari began his medical career as chief resident in surgery at UCLA from 1974 to 1979 before moving to New Orleans, where he was a colon and rectal surgeon at the Ochsner Clinic. He earned a law degree from Loyola University in 1985 and an MBA from Tulane University in 1986 while he was the chief operating officer of the Ochsner Clinic from 1985 to 1989.

“We are very pleased that Bernie Ferrari will bring his expertise from advising corporations and organizations to help guide the future of our University,” noted Ed Hajim ’58, the chair of the Board of Trustees. “His insider’s view of health care and many other industries adds to the strength and knowledge of our distinguished board.”

Ferrari and his wife, Linda, live in New York City. He is a trustee of the Juilliard School in New York; a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations; a fellow of the American College of Surgeons; and a fellow of the American College of Colon & Rectal Surgeons.
