Doctors Candice Lee (Drexel), Roseanna Guzman (Rochester), Laura Nally (UC, Davis), Bianca Redhead (Rochester), Linda Ding (University of Washington), Melissa Mastroianni (Wisconsin-Madison), and Kristin Kelly (SUNY Upstate) represent the first all-female surgical residency class at the Medical Center, if not the country. Assigned independently to Rochester from some of the nation’s top medical schools, they began the second year of their training this academic year. Across the country, only about 19 percent of the nation’s 160,000 surgeons are women.
