Match Day: Gener Augustin ’13M (MD) is embraced by Ashley Slaughter, a third-year medical student, after Augustin learns she will undertake a residency in vascular surgery at Case Western Reserve University. The moment came during this spring’s Match Day celebration at the School of Medicine and Dentistry, an event when nearly 100 members of the school’s Class of 2013 discovered where they will complete the next step of their medical education. The blind process is conducted by the National Resident Matching Program and is designed to try to place doctors into programs according to their interests and their preferences for placement.
