I give to the United Way because I would like to help Rochester's children get the tools and support that they need in order to graduate from high school and improve their opportunities for the future. I choose to assist them through the United Way's Community Fund.
I give because the impact on the future of our community is priceless.
One of my favorite quotes is by Marian Wright Edelman. She says “service is the rent we pay for living”. The United Way provides our community with the services and programs that are needed to improve the quality of life for our most vulnerable citizens. That is why I am always grateful to donate to UW.
"I donate to the United Way because: For the last 16 years, my fiancée has worked for Genesee Valley Rotary Camp, which is partially funded by United Way contributions. GVRC provides a totally free outdoor camping experience for children with disabilities. When I see the smiles on the faces of the campers and staff, I know my gifts are making a lasting impact.
I give to the United Way because they support and further the belief that we are one community. I rest assured knowing that my contribution is optimized to assist those who struggle to meet their basic needs. Giving is not self-less. A financial contribution does wonders to assist the community, but giving is an amazing way to connect and uplift both the recipient and the contributor.

Winston Churchill once said “we make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give.” To me giving to the United Way is a road I choose to take in order to make a difference in our community, to help those truly in hardship, and to help to start slowly changing the world. It is a small sacrifice to make in order to implement a difference.
I give to United Way because I believe in their mission to solve local problems through leadership and community building. By demonstrating compassion, caring, and sharing, the United Way makes Rochester a better place to live.
Supporting the United Way is very important to me because it gives me the ability to change lives, inspire hope, encourage others and impact my community on a larger and broader scale then I could do on my own. Great leaders are those who not only reach back to help others but they give their time, talents and resources to help improve the lives of the individuals and communities that they live in and serve.
I give because I care. We all encounter difficult circumstances throughout our lives. Unfortunately, we may not always be prepared to handle them. By giving to the United Way, I can give assistance to those in need when they have nowhere else to turn.
