Now That's Marketing

From PW:

William Morrow publicist Danielle Bartlett wanted to promote the U.S. debut of popular Icelandic novelist Yrsa Sigurdardottir by doing an in-flight book signing of her murder mystery, Last Rituals. She contacted Icelandair’s media relations manager Debbie Scott. From there, the idea morphed into a four-day trip for six journalists, arranged and paid for by Iceland Air, in which the writers spent time time with Sigurdardottir visiting locations relevant to her book.

Maybe Open Letter should arrange something like this for Bragi Olafsson’s book The Pets. Too bad 90% of The Pets takes place under the protagonist’s bed. . . . That probably wouldn’t work out too well . . .

(Bragi was the bassist in the Sugarcubes though, so in reality there should be some interesting stories to hear/places to visit.)
