Indie Booksellers in China

According to PW, Reed Exhibitions/BookExpo America is bringing a number of librarians and independent booksellers to the Beijing Book Fair to participate on a panel on bookselling.

I think this sort of exchange is fantastic, and is another example of Reed’s interest in connecting various parts of the publishing industry from around the world. (Reed recently acquired the Miami Book Fair and was responsible for organizing this year’s Translation Market.)

Here’s the list of booksellers attending:

Karl Pohrt, founder and owner of Shaman Drum Bookstore in Ann Arbor; Rick Simonson of Elliott Bay Book Company in Seattle; Sarah McNally of McNally Robinson in New York; Alison Hill of Vroman’s in Los Angeles; and Paul Yamazaki of City Lights in San Francisco.

I believe Karl will be keeping a blog about his experiences—I’ll be sure to link to it if this turns out to be the case.
