Robert Hass: The Poet as Translator

Join the Center for the Art of Translation for this special event in honor of National Poetry Month as former Poet Laureate Robert Hass reads and discusses his world-renowned translations. A long-time translator of Polish poet Czeslaw Milosz, Hass has also translated the haiku of Basho and poems by Tomas Tranströmer. An activist on behalf of poetry, literacy, and the environment, Hass is the founder of River of Words, which promotes environmental and arts education. His most recent collection of poems, TIME AND MATERIALS, received the National Book Award and the Pulitzer Prize in 2007.
