Book Presentation: The Museum of Eterna's Novel

Where: Americas Society, 680 Park Avenue, New York, NY

The Society and Open Letter are pleased to celebrate the publication of “the best novel since both it and the world began,” as Macedonio Fernández (1874-1956) himself described his masterwork, which was first published posthumously in 1967 and, with this 2009 edition, appears for the first time in English translation. Macedonio has the distinction of influencing generations of Latin American writers, beginning with his friend, Jorge Luis Borges. The presentation will feature appearances by Macedonio scholar Todd Garth, translators Edith Grossman and Margaret Schwartz (who translated this work), and publisher Chad Post, who collectively will explore the aesthetic, social, and historical dimensions of this iconoclastic Argentine writer who “created and broke the mold” for world literature.

This presentation will be in English.
