Guardian First Book Award Shortlist
The Guardian just announced the shortlist for its First Fiction Award.
Pretty interesting mix that includes novels, a biography, and a work of nonfiction:
- A Golden Age by Tahmima Anam (John Murray)
- Imperial Life in the Emerald City by Rajiv Chandrasekaran (Bloomsbury)
- God’s Architect by Rosemary Hill (Allen Lane)
- Children of the Revolution by Dinaw Mengestu (Jonathan Cape)
- What Was Lost by Catherine O’Flynn (Tindal Street Press)
The winner will be announced in December. Personally I’m pulling for Dinaw and Children of the Revolution (called The Beautiful Things that Heaven Bears in the States).
