Hospital Unit Dedicated to Care of Seriously Ill Patients Planned

Last July, Strong Memorial Hospital’s palliative care program, which helps enhance quality of life for seriously ill patients, was awarded the “Circle of Life” Citation of Honor from the American Hospital Association.

The award-winning program will have a new location in the hospital, funded by a donation from Bernard Sussman ’81M (Res), ’81M (Flw), associate professor of medicine and a primary care physician, and his brother, Daniel Sussman.

They have donated $750,000 that will support the design and renovation of an area of Strong that will be the dedicated palliative care unit, named the Albert and Phyllis Sussman Palliative Care Unit in memory of their parents.
