Responsibility of Budget Managers

The Universities Mission is to Learn, Discover, Heal, Create—and Make the World Ever Better
As members of that community, we are all expected to be good stewards by using resources appropriately, sustainably, ethically, and balancing intergenerational equity.

Budget Managers are those individuals who prepare and manage budgets and have authority and, therefore, the responsibility for ensuring the accurate and timely recording of actual use and budget planning.

Operating Budget Managers use UR Budget to develop the annual operating budget. They are expected to ensure compliance with deadlines as well as be prepared to use the system well in advance of any deadlines.

UR Financials is the system of record and is considered the primary repository for all actual activity and the approved budget. UR Financials should be used to keep track of what the budget is, what actuals have been spent, and how much budget remains.

It is the responsibility of Budget Managers to ensure they have the training, knowledge, and skills to perform these responsibilities. Training is available online for UR Budget and UR Financials, you are encouraged to contact the Budget Office to ask for support at any time.
