Suzette Norris has been named director of communications for the University of Rochester’s Office of the Executive Vice President (EVP) for Administration and Finance, reporting to Elizabeth Milavec, who in 2022 was named the University’s inaugural EVP for administration and finance, chief financial officer, and treasurer. Norris will provide communications support for the Office of the EVP and develop the strategy and framework needed to strengthen communications on important topics such as finance, facilities, safety, and the strategic role Administration and Finance plays in supporting the University’s academic, clinical and research missions.
Norris comes to the EVP’s office from the University of Rochester Medical Center where she developed and implemented enterprise-wide communications strategies, managed internal communications, oversaw numerous communication channels, and led a 15-person communication team.
Prior to joining the University in 2017, she worked as a communications consultant for several clients, including Xerox’s worldwide Public Relations Group where she served as editor in chief. Earning a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Texas at Austin, Norris worked as a reporter and an editor at several award-winning metro newspapers.
